Race Half Elf (EQ2 Walk Through)

March 2nd, 2008

Half Elves are the offspring of a coming together of an Elven Male or Female, and a Human Male or Female, most likely after being highly intoxicated in a mythical pub of some time. One could argue they could also be named "Half Humans", but I guess that would be politically incorrect in some ways. Therefore the good folks of EQ2 named them Half Elves.

Half Elves are extremely bitter at heart, rebellious and destructuve. They are shunned by both the human race for being "inhuman", and the Elves despise them for being tainted by human blood. Poor guys and gals are in a no win situation. Luckily none of this background matters whatsoever, unless you happen to come across some frustrating role players who heckle you all day about your virtual upbringing. Role playing disturbs me quite a bit, so when PVP is enabled in the game please do take out a few unsuspecting role players for your friends here at MPS.

Half elves can be of the "Good" or "Evil" persuasion in EQ2, meaning they can inhabit either Qeynos or Freeport after their initial stint on the Isle of Refuge. I would personally have a hard time taking an Evil Half Elf seriously though, they look extremely happy. That being said, you still have the option. I probably take aesthetics too seriously……but continuing on……

Half Elves have a unique ability called "Infravision", allowing them to see in the dark by switching to a different spectrum of light. There is no good reason for them to have this ability if you are going strictly based off of fantasy lore. Unless of course they are actually half Dark Elf half human, then they could theoretically have this ability in their genes (Dark Elves possess this ability). However, examining them in the game they certainly appear to be offspring of the light elves and humans….alas this is an argument without resolution, but a discrepency which I feel much better pointing out.

With their excellent balance of Agility, Stamina, Strength and mental capabilities, Half Elves are ideal for Scouting. With their high intelligence and wisdom rates, they would certainly do the mages or priest professions proud as well.
